- Mixing bowl and spoon
- ¾ cup warm water
- Parchment paper
- Rolling pin
- Cookie cutters
- Straw
- Fork
- Baking sheet
- Watercolor paints
- Paint brushes
- Metallic markers
- Glitter glue
- Clear acrylic sealer (optional)
Directions
Step one: Preheat the oven to 300°F. Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Mix well, then slowly stream warm water while stirring. Finish mixing with hands, then knead dough for 5-6 minutes until soft.
Step two: Place dough between two large pieces of parchment paper, then roll out and flatten until dough is 1/8″ thick.
Step three: Remove the top sheet of parchment paper and cut shapes using cookie cutters. Use a straw to poke a hole at the top of each ornament.
Step four: Use a fork, straw, and other objects to give texture to the shapes. Peel away excess dough. Leave the shapes on the parchment paper.
Step five: Transfer parchment paper with shapes onto a baking sheet and bake for an hour or until hard.
Step six: Once baked, let cool then decorate using paint, markers, and glitter glue. Adults may choose to spray the ornaments with clear acrylic sealer for longer-lasting ornaments.
